Color In White Wines

White wines can be straw yellow, golden yellow or greenish yellow while still young. As they age, these tones turn into dark golden yellow or even amber. A dark golden color in white wines may indicate that the wine is aged in oak barrels, or it can be a harbinger of a sweet wine. However, the darkening of the dry white wine, one or two years of age, generally indicates that it is aging and oxidizing prematurely.
