Each wine region in France has its own regulation and classification system. AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) is a sign that the wine is produced in accordance with the legal standards of the specified region. In the regions included in the AOC, the rules for how much yield will be obtained from the grape varieties to be grown are strictly determined. The more detailed the production location is specified on the label, the higher the production standards. For example, for the Bordeaux region, a more local name such as “Medoc” is indicated on the label, or even local apellations such as Saint-Estephe, Pauillac, Margaux in the more famous ones.
